Former Sky X Airlines Exec Sentenced in $32M Polar Air Cargo Fraud Scheme

Skye Xu, the final defendant in a $32 million fraud case involving Polar Air Cargo, has been sentenced to two years in prison. Xu, who ran California-based Sky X Airlines, admitted to paying $4.4 million in kickbacks to Polar executives between 2020 and 2021 in exchange for lucrative contracts during the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme generated nearly $10 million in net revenue. Xu will also forfeit $4.4 million and pay $1.39 million in restitution. The case highlights long-term corruption within Polar, with multiple executives sentenced and the closure of Polar’s joint venture announced earlier this year.
