Another Delay in ANA’s Acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines

ANA Holdings’ acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA/KZ) from NYK Group has been delayed again, with the share exchange now set for August 1 instead of July 1. ANA cited pending competition authority approvals, particularly from China, as the reason. The deal, first announced in March 2023, has faced multiple delays due to regulatory reviews. NCA, which operates eight 747-8 freighters and owns five 747-400s, is being sold by NYK due to high operational costs. ANA sees the purchase as a major boost to its international cargo capabilities. NCA will retain a separate operating certificate post-acquisition.
