Capital A, the parent company of Malaysian low-cost airline group AirAsia, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to explore making Bahrain AirAsia’s Middle East hub. The partnership aims to strengthen aviation and economic ties between Bahrain and ASEAN, enhancing connectivity, cargo, and maintenance capabilities. CEO Tony Fernandes called the move “a game-changer” that will bridge Asia and the Middle East through 25 daily flights and 20 million passengers by 2030. Capital A’s Teleport and ADE units will also anchor Bahrain as a logistics and MRO powerhouse.
