According to Maersk's Q2 2021 results, sales were $14.2 billion (+58% YoY), EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) quintupled to $4.1 billion, and net income was $3.7 billion in Q2. The company said that net income for the first half of the year (Q1 and Q2 combined) was $6.5 billion, a "record performance". The company attributed the strong performance to international shipping congestion triggered by the Corona disaster and higher ocean freight rates due to supply chain bottlenecks. At the same time, "we made good progress in our strategic transformation to focus on our customers' needs for integrated solutions across the supply chain," the company said.
