Airfreight Demand and Rates Stabilize After Lunar New Year Fluctuations

Airfreight demand and rates have stabilised after fluctuations from the Lunar New Year and tariff uncertainties. According to WorldACD, air cargo demand was flat week-on-week as of March 9 but up 2% year-on-year. The average worldwide rate was $2.33 per kg, a slight increase from the previous week and last year. Tonnages from Asia Pacific saw a 5% week-on-week increase, returning to mid-January levels. However, volumes from regions like Central & South America, Europe, and North America declined. Spot rates from Asia Pacific to Europe fell 3% week-on-week but remain 20% higher than last year.
