The 2023 air cargo airport rankings have been released by ACI World, showing that Hong Kong (HKG) retained the top position with 4.33 million tonnes, followed by Memphis (MEM) in second place with 3.88 million tonnes and Shanghai Pudong (PVG) in third with 3.44 million tonnes. Anchorage (ANC) ranked fourth with 3.38 million tonnes, and Incheon (ICN) rounded out the top five with 2.76 million tonnes. Narita (NRT) in Japan dropped two spots from 10th to 12th, handling 1.91 million tonnes. Chinese airports showed significant growth, with Shanghai moving up to third place (from fourth last year), and Guangzhou (CAN) climbing to 11th (from 15th). Middle Eastern airports such as Doha (DOH) and Dubai (DXB) also saw improvements in their rankings. Global air cargo volumes for 2023 totaled 115 million tonnes, a decrease of 1.8% compared to the previous year. However, the concentration of cargo at major airports remains strong.
