Global Tariff Shifts Reshape Supply Chains as Freight Forwarders Adapt and Consolidate

Shippers continue to restructure supply chains in response to ongoing tariff changes, prompting freight forwarders to adapt. After Q2 shipment pauses and tariff confusion, bookings from China declined before rebounding with a 90-day tariff pause and reduced Chinese tariffs. Forwarders expect more volatility as shippers remain cautious. Trade is shifting to Southeast Asia, and forwarders are adjusting lanes and services. Complex customs rules and rising logistics costs elevate the value of forwarders’ expertise. Major consolidation is also reshaping the market, notably DSV’s acquisition of DB Schenker, while others like CEVA, AIT, and Toll Group expand through strategic acquisitions.
