U.S. initiates import ban based on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.

In the U.S., an import ban based on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, a law that in principle prohibits the import of products involving the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China, became effective on June 21, U.S. time. The import ban applies to any products that contain even a small amount of raw materials or parts involving the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The areas of intensified inspection include apparel products, cotton and cotton products, silica-based products including polysilicon, and tomatoes and their derivatives.
