Nippon Express Holdings has successfully acquired cargo-partner businesses in central and eastern Europe, solidifying its position as a global mega forwarder. The undisclosed deal, estimated at $740 million, was completed through a special purpose company under Nippon Express Europe. This move catapults the joint venture into the top five global airfreight forwarders, surpassing 1 million tonnes in volume. Driven by its 2023 business plan, Nippon Express aims to boost its non-Japan business and leverage cargo-partner's strengths in high tech, electronics, and automotive sectors. The acquisition aligns with the emergence of central and eastern Europe as a strong logistics base and industrial hub. Nippon Express plans to capitalize on synergies, merging their differing customer bases to accelerate global business expansion. The integration process, set to begin promptly, marks a pivotal step towards creating enhanced value for both companies' customers and stakeholders.
