コンテナ船業界は需要の中長期的な停滞に備え、サービス体制の抜本的な見直しを進めつつある。ザ・アライアンスは東西基幹航路の見直しを発表し、欧州、中東および北米東岸航路でのサービス統合や北米航路でのサービス休止、さらに追加の欠便などを発表。他アライアンスも次々とサービス縮小を打ち出しており、関係者は今後、「荷動き減が本格化し、3割程度落ち込む可能性がある」と見てサービス体制でもそれに合わせた体制を取ろうとしている。頻繁な欠便でオペレーションは混乱しているものの、東西航路は需要減も手伝って物流自体に大きな影響は出ていない。ただマニラやダーバン、チッタゴンなど一部港湾ではスケジュール遅延が深刻化している。

The containership industry is undergoing a fundamental overhaul of its service structure in preparation for a medium- to long-term stagnation of demand. The Alliance announces a review of its east-west trunk route, consolidating services on Europe, the Middle East and the east coast of North America, suspending service on North American routes, and adding additional flights. Other alliances have also begun to shrink their services one after another, and officials are thinking that "there is a possibility that cargo movement will decrease in earnest and fall by about 30%", and the service system will take measures to match this. Despite the disruption of operations due to frequent flights, the East-West route has not had a significant impact on the logistics itself due to a drop in demand. However, some ports such as Manila, Durban and Chittagong have serious schedule delays.
