The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced a forecast for aviation industry cargo sales of $110.8 billion (+8.2% YoY) in 2020. The freight volume is expected to be approximately 51 million tons (-17.8%). Due to the spread of new coronavirus infection and suspension/reduction of passenger flights due to travel restrictions and voluntary refraining from travel, belly space decreased. The freight unit price is expected to grow by about 30%. IATA's Secretary-General and CEO Alexandre Douniak said at a conference on the same day, "In the freight business, global transportation demand for items such as medical devices and e-commerce (EC) has increased. The load factor will improve in April this year. As a result, the sales of the freight business have reached a very high level.”
