Japan-ASEAN Cold Chain Logistics Discusses International Standardization

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) held the 19th ASEAN-Japan Logistics Experts Meeting online to strengthen cooperation in the field of logistics with ASEAN countries. Government officials from nine ASEAN countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, participated in the meeting. The participants from ASEAN included government officials from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. From Japan, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Hitachi Transport System, Ltd. participated as logistics providers. MLIT introduced the results of the logistics policy dialogue, workshops, and demonstration transportation conducted between the two countries, Thailand and Indonesia. The ASEAN side also introduced their efforts in cold chain logistics and received positive responses from Brunei, Cambodia, and Thailand. In addition, Brunei, Cambodia, and other countries explained their progress and plans regarding the national standardization of cold chain logistics. In the area of logistics human resource development, MLIT reported on its training programs for university students and administrative officials in Laos and Vietnam. It was proposed that the project be expanded to Malaysia, and the participants agreed to discuss the possibility of implementing the project in the next fiscal year.
